One

The power of one.  Just before D.L. Moody set sail for America-West London Evangelist Henry Varley told him, “The world has yet to see what God will do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully and wholly consecrated to him.” Moody determined in his heart to be this man. Records show Moody having  four years of formal schooling however he established 150 schools, street missions, soup kitchens, colportage societies and other charitable organizations-including Chicago’s first street boys’ clinic. In 1891 he opened Northfield Seminary for young Women. Originally uneducated but his unceasing teachability produced a scholar of scholars.  And this list is not exhaustive.

The enemy would like nothing more than to invade your belief system with lies and fuel your insecurities of ineffectiveness. God is glorified when the world sees us accomplish something we are unable to do on our own ability. God uses our weaknesses to show his strength through us (II Corinthians 12:9). Have a weakness?  Lay every weakness before him and allow God to make it into strength. Moody hasn’t been the only one to challenge Henry Varley’s theory. Will you add your name to the list?

The Nubians

  •  Pray that God will raise up linguists to translate the Word of God into each of the tribal languages.
  •  Pray that God will take authority over the spiritual principalities and powers that are keeping these tribes bound.
  •  Ask God to send medical teams and humanitarian aid workers to minister to the Nubians.
  •  Pray that strong local churches will be planted among each of these tribes.

Pray for the Muslims in Khartoum, Sudan:

* Pray that the leaders of Sudan will have vision and determination to promote peace and justice (including freedom of thought and expression for all cultural groups in Sudan).

* Pray for leaders who will champion and insist on a sustainable peace agreement so that the two million displaced people around Khartoum may have the opportunity to return to develop their homelands in the south.

* Pray that the Muslim majority may have many opportunities to see and hear the Gospel.

* Pray for the calling and equipping of Khartoum’s Christian leaders, who can start, nurture and multiply many small indigenous fellowships.
